  Chapter 1

  Erien

In the beginning, there was a gray sun and a yellow moon. They watched over a lonely colossal planet perched at the far ends of the universe. The planet is called Solasis. That is my home; a place that knows neither night nor day, for the sun and moon both shine at the same time. Effectively, a yellowish gray ambiance hangs coolly in the swift air around us like infinitesimal specks of floating gold. Every true Soleroid looks to the sun as if it is a god, and when all awaken from the days’ rest, they bow on one knee in reverence. Not I, Prince Erien, son of King Brodmit Heluka and second in line to the royal throne after my elder and only brother, Kravis Heluka.

Perched upon a mighty bronze effigy, every morning I look out to the golden streets of Solasis. Small gray, brown, and blue houses made from sapphire appear like little heaps of treasure from where I sit. It always makes me feel great to gaze my silver eyes upon my father’s grand kingdom as my royal blue silk long shirt permeates cool air against the smooth of my skin.

It makes me feel even better that the responsibility of governing it will not be passed to me. My formidable elder brother, Kravis, will receive that crown. Thankfully, he is ever so thorough and responsible in all that he does that it leaves me with nothing to do. Nothing except to gaze upon the ample bosoms of pretty girls and enough time spent at court to feed the fantasies of silly old ladies who are fed up of their old weary husbands.

I am quite the charmer, I am told. I can’t help it that I am a head taller than everyone else, built with the toned physique of a god and endowed with a radiant white smile that sends every virgin swooning on my bed. Charm is like nature to me, second only to flying and my love-making expertise. My recent prey is a pretty one; she is young, slender, and has smooth violet hair. Her name is Sasha. I will be meeting her later. She knows how to satisfy the thirst between my legs like no other.

I swing from the effigy to the wide balcony adjacent to it, as my mind plunders memories of the wonderful Sasha. She is the most beautiful maiden I have ever seen. Her eyes glow golden yellow like the sun, her violet hair smells of fresh myrrh, and her tall pale body has the daintiest scales that are smooth to touch. When she’s shy, her skin turns a tinge of yellow but when I plunge my body into hers in our secret meetings, she becomes a beautiful bright red. I almost fall off the balcony just at the thought of her pink perky breasts.

Sasha is the delight of my life. Too bad I cannot marry her just yet. Custom has it that the eldest royal blood is to marry first and all the gods know that Kravis is cursed on the court. He cannot even charm a flower if he tried. I get satisfaction from his only flaw though it is delaying my happiness. The delay has its perks too; I don’t get to be tied down to anyone until I marry, which can only be arranged a few seasons after my brother’s betrothal.

I am about to leave the balcony and return to my room when something queer arrests my attention. It doesn’t sit right with me that my brother Kravis has the flaps that give his boudoir the privacy he always demands, wide open. He only lets outside air in when he is hosting company. It is a very odd hour for him to be hosting any company. If anything, Kravis is supposed to be out in the field, greeting the well to do early risers and giving alms to the poor as a future king should.

My curiosity gets the better of me, so I swing from the balcony onto a flower engraved white column. My hands graze its smooth edges before I swing onto an effigy of a woman’s head. It is meant to resemble the ancient face of Soleroids’ first queen, yet it appears much like a caricature of a frog with broad strokes of hair on its head. I think it was not pulled down for the sole reason that it is a beautiful work of art of something ugly. The head stands as a path between the column next to my room and another smaller but prettier effigy next to my brother’s boudoir.

Needless to say, I am the only one who ever uses that treacherous effigy as a bridge. And it is not treachery I am expecting when I swing around to the small statue that gives me a clear view into Kravis room when the flaps are open.

“Fathers above.” I let out a choked whimper.

Directly in front of me, Sasha, my beautiful Sasha, has her skin out to the sun. She is nude, her skin glowing yellow as she cradles herself against my heavy boned brother. Kravis lies flat on his bed, his head supported by white feathered pillows. He wears nothing but a thin yet strong copper string around his crotch, a symbol that the love-making is a binding agreement. I gasp in horror.

Sasha is not shy. She takes herself freely, plunging her ample flesh atop Kravis so roughly that his long erect groin is immersed completely inside her. She slaps her flat buttocks back and forth, coercing him to erupt in desire so that she can be satisfied. It is the way the Soleroid wedding dance is done. The betrothal pact is only made when the male erupts in desire. The copper string around the man’s genitals, solely used for the ceremony, keeps the momentum building with the effect that it makes it very hard for the male counterpart to release his seed.

I once heard of a man who was having so much pleasure, he did not release his seed in his to-be-betrothed. After ten hours of her grinding on him, the poor bride was too tired to continue and so the marriage could not take place. The man had played the same antics on a dozen bride-to-be’s until word had reached the king, my great grandfather, who had then called that the man should be given a final chance with his thirteenth choice for a bride. When he had wasted his thirteenth bride and refused to release, the then King had ordered his balls chopped off. The eunuch then served as part of the kings’ guard till his dying day. It is a cautionary tale to all who took the binding sex act as a thing of pleasure.

I swallow hard, both in anger and desire at how heated Sasha is getting. She is turning cherry red. Her body has poured out her sticky juices in feverish intervals, still Kravis refuses to be sated. He wants more of her. His skin is turning so gray, it makes me sick to know he is culminating because of the woman who is supposed to be mine.

  “Sit harder,” he urges her.

Kravis digs his rough fingers into Sasha’s thin waist and pulls her down into him until he can’t possibly enter her any further. She lets out a shrill moan as her juices pour out again. My body stirs and I feel pangs of pain in my groin. I know how warm Sasha is. I know how she can drive a man insane with desire just by flashing those red tits of her. And yet I don’t know how she got to be in bed with my brother.

  “Grab me,” Kravis commands her.

  “Yes, my king.”

  “Faster.”

She obeys and rides him like a wild horse. Subtly, she then runs her hands along his thighs then around his nuts un
til she reaches the hole in his ass. With her fingers, she stretches it until he cries out in pleasure. I do a face-palm to keep myself from seeing the trick. It is common knowledge not to use other erotic tricks to increase pleasure during the wedding dance, but what does it matter. I suppose future kings follow no rules. They are both sweaty and breathing heavily. Kravis can’t contain himself with her atop him. He wants to plunge into her, possibly make her pregnant. It has happened before. The thought makes me very angry.

Kravis turns whilst still inside Sasha. He is now on top of her and has his arse mocking me as it contracts and relaxes with every dig into her soft pink flesh. I can almost cry as I hear her beg him for mercy she doesn’t need. She is enjoying every minute of it. Every minute of betrayal, though it cannot be called that because she was never engaged to me. Kravis’s huge body is shaking with desire. It is clear he will release any moment now. How could he not, she is a pretty thing to behold, let alone make love to. I know I gave her much practice of that in our dark meetings.

Then suddenly, it hits me. My brother will release his seed any time, and that will make Sasha his wife. I will not have it. If only I can stop him before he erupts inside her. If only I can kill him, then I will have both Sasha and his throne. Or perhaps, I will kill them both.

  Chapter 2

  Erien

My anger blinds my heart. Unthinking, I glide noiselessly from the effigy onto Kravis balcony. My brother and his stolen bride are too engrossed in their wedding dance to hear my advance. Just perfect as I will not have my brother stare me in the eye while I send him to join our ancestors.

My pace quickens, and somehow, my hand grips the golden scepter that sits by the door without me having searched for it. It seems to have been waiting there for my furious judgment. Scepter in my hand, I charge toward the copulating couple like an angry bull. I have never missed a target in my life and so I thrust the spear, I know it will meet its mark; his heart.

Kravis and Sasha realize too late that I intrude with murderous intent. She shrieks, and falls away from him just as he releases his seed, more out of fear than anything else. It is too late. His plentiful gooey seed fertilizes her. This spurs my murderous rage. I am just about to soil the white sheets made of feathers with his crimson blood when out of nowhere, I am smacked hard on the head.

The room spins as I fall to the ground. A scepter in another man’s hand forces my mind back to its senses. Thankfully, before I commit a horrendous act on my own blood. For a moment, I see only whiteness. My temporal blindness evaporates quickly. My eyes stare up to see the face of the hand that slapped me. It is my brother’s guard, Leysh. He is an eight feet giant, dark as night and always shadows my brother.

“Erien. How could you do this?” Sasha cries. It is clear that I deny her pleasures. Spoilt brat, I think. Kravis simply appears in shock. I turn my gaze away from his large fluid-soaked appendage.

“You cheater!” I scream at no one in particular.

Anger rises in me like bile. I jump onto my feet then lurch the scepter in a vain attempt for her throat. I am just angry. I really am not a murderer. Leysh deflates the attack. The golden scepter breaks in two. This makes me afraid. It is never a good sign when a golden scepter breaks. Heavy steps bid me turn around. I freeze in shock.

“And there he is, my second son,” he says in an echoing voice.

Clad in royal purples robes that sweep the floor, my father approaches me with open arms. He embraces me tightly. My body turns a deep gray. I hate to be treated as if I am a child. I should have known that the ceremonial wedding dance was always watched. Otherwise, who will witness that the betrothal has been made?

  “Father,” I whisper.

I bow my head and step away from the Soleroid with the whitest hair on the planet. The hair which is much like mine, except shorter. Though he is old, he has strong ripped arms, and a face made only for a king.

My father and four other men from the council stand witness to the engagement of Kravis and Sasha. Only men can stand witness. Legend has it that a woman is much too weak to observe such delicate ceremonies though I believe otherwise. In truth, what hot-blooded Soleroid will stand and watch copulation with utmost detachment when there is another woman in the room available to take? The wedding bride is viewed simply as a ceremonial ornament for the man during the wedding dance. After it is over and done with, the bride will cover herself as if nothing happened. There is dignity in that.

We, Soleroids, hold ourselves to high standards. We will never compromise our dignity by having a woman there to watch with us. If there is another, we will shame ourselves by taking her there and then.

That I am deliberately excluded from watching my brother’s wedding dance means either of two things; firstly, that I am considered a woman or secondly, that everyone knew the bride was not to take.

“Do not be angry at me.” Sasha kneels in front of me. Her limp cherry-red naked is open for me to drink with my eyes and if I was crude enough, touch. She says, “It is I who requested you be excluded from my wedding dance.”

In her tone, I hear that she is fighting her desire for me. In her body, I see that she’d rather be queen to a kingdom than just be with a wealthy lover who may never be king. I am annoyed that she is so shallow. I roughly pull her up by the arm until she winces. I want her to look me in the face and tell me that she truly desires my thick rudimentary brother over me. Leysh callously removes my grip from her. I am not to touch the woman being betrothed.

“You would dare smite a weaker being?” my father asks, a scowl showing on his face.

“The only smiting I have ever done on a woman has had her squealing on my bed, especially when I am the one who took her virginity,” I spit, glaring at Sasha.

“You scoundrel!” My brother, as usual, catches on belatedly. He swings at me.

  “You thief!” I say.

I ready my defense but Leysh stands between my brother and I like a dark shadow. My father and his council have seen enough. They surround me. I snarl at them. My father shakes his head.

“Your pain has made you blind, yet I thought you will be able to see how you have stretched my patience,” he says.

“It will not happen again,” I say only to save shame from my father in the presence of his council. I know it is an embarrassment to bring family quarrels in the sight of outsiders. That was a sure way to lose respect. My father knows that too.

“By the skies above, it will not!” He bellows. His forgiving nature is gone, and in the place of my father, stood a judge, a king. “You will go to the Mother Tree and plead your forgiveness until your eyes bleed crimson blood!”

I gasp. Our blood is a pale gray. I am being banished indefinitely.

“Why is your anger against me? He is the one who took the bride who is supposed to be mine.”

I point an accusing finger at Kravis, who is getting dressed. In all the mess, I did not see when Sasha was escorted out of the room; I long to behold her precious body again. I know I will, but she is already my brothers. He had released just in time. My damnable brother is always one step ahead of me.

Kravis, now fully dressed in a pale flowing robe, says, “She didn’t look like she was thinking about you when I took her. She brought herself to me! She prefers kingdoms over, what do you have, charm?”

“She was never yours if you did not perform the wedding dance with her.” My father is trying to be patient with me.

“Oh, I practiced many times with her!” I cry.

  “Get out!” Kravis bellows.

I turn to my brother, defiant. The prick cannot get a girl to kiss him if he tries, but here he has taken my bride – right from under my nose. I flush with rage. He is going to pay, I swear. I refuse to move.

“You will obey your king!” My father says.

“He is no king of mine.” I spin on my heel to take the exit.

I am not given the chance. Without warning, my father clicks his fingers. The command is given, and Leysh seizes me.
An additional two guards, adorned in heavy mail plated in molten gold, quickly react by clutching the swords at their wide hips. They are giants. A generation bred from the first royal guardian lineage of Solasis. They are a royal bloodline pledged to protect royalty. And now, even though my father has given the order, they can smite Leysh if he dares harm a hair on my head. It’s all child’s play to me. However, my father has another idea in mind.

“May Mother tree grant you early forgiveness, lest you miss your brother’s wedding,” King Brodmit says.

I know what he means. He plans to make me miss my brother’s wedding. He knows Kravis is in the wrong. He knows I will cause a scene. I am damned to cause a scene. No one takes what is mine and lives to enjoy it. Damn Sasha. Damn her greedy ambition. She would have had all that with me. I will show her. I stare coldly at my brother. Kravis is a weasel compared to me. No wonder he always gets my father’s pity. I shrug off the guards. I can very well walk by myself.
